15 Nov crew in round 1 of Australian Surf Boat Rowers’ Navy series.

Recently Pt Elliot SLSC fielded 5 crew in round 1 of Australian Surf Boat Rowers’ Navy series.

The event was relocated from Southport Beach to Victor Harbor Yacht Club beach due to Sunday’s wild conditions.
The five Pt Elliot crews were greeted with cold and very windy conditions with wind gusts up to 60+ KMS/HR which proved testing to all participating crews.

In the Open Men’s division the ‘Rustlers’ crew of Trent Marles, Garth Reynolds, David Read, Ali Searle and sweep Troy Irvin enjoyed the rough conditions placing in all of their heats and went on to take out 4th place overall.


The ‘Good Ol’ Boys’ Masters’ crew of Sweep Steve Tummel and crew of Michael Lippett, Gary Humphries, Mark Williams and Alan Reynolds rowed well against tough opposition in The Men’s Reserve going on to take out 2nd place.

The defending State champion crew the Port Elliot Castaways continued their strong form from last season with some impressive rowing. Sheldon Skanes, Harry Heading, Harrison Fuller, Cameron Smith and sweep Troy Irvin went on to take out the Under 23 Men’s division.


In the under 19 Men’s division Port Elliot Shark Bait revelled in their first carnival in a surf boat. The crew of Charlie Goya, Matt Read, Riley Oborn and sweep Steve Tummel perseveres with fill ins through out the event
to finish in a solid 3rd place.

The Shredders crew of Ella Smith, Tash McMahon, Elly Adamson, Maddie Turley and sweep Troy Irvin dominated their under 19 race finishing in first place but had to withdraw due to work commitments.

Special thanks to Tata Irvin who accepted the tricky role of Team Manager for the day.

Overall Pt Elliot crews had a strong day on the water in tricky conditions and look forward to being at full strength at Round 2 of the ASRLSA Navy Super Series to be held at Moana on Sunday 27th of November.
