2021/22 SKILLS UPDATE

See here for instructions to enrol in proficiencies.

Don’t forget to answer the questions – there are only 2!

I know it’s not as easy as just turning up on the day anymore, but please do the right thing and make the process as easy as possible for Lucinda and her team. Thanks

Members who are not proficient as at 31 December are not permitted to patrol, or compete in any SLS sports competition, until they have obtained the required proficiency.

Roll Call

Background: The concept of Roll Call goes back to tradition days in Lifesaving where Members were called upon for different duties or social gatherings as an expectation of attendance. The roll was called to note attendance and sometimes there was a punishment for non attendance. Very similar to the concept of being in a beach patrol and fulfilling your obligation.

Of course, things have changed and nowadays and it’s a way for our membership to have something to feel apart of and attend no matter what part of the club you are interested in. Whether it be a Nipper, Patrolling Member, Surf Sport Competitor or “Friend of The Club”.

With the loss of our Clubrooms last season we called the Roll in various venues to support our sponsors and supporters as well as to provide a venue for Members to gather and bond.

This season we continue with the concept, but at The Club. Throughout the season we will change the events for Roll Call and include some lifesaving twists for everyone to enjoy. We can’t wait to see ALL members supporting this concept and support each other in our diverse Club environment.

Yours in lifesaving,

Brad Watson (Club Captain) and Tara Irvin (Vice Captain)

THE CLUB HOUSE

Join us at “The Club” for Busk’n Sundays in December. Enjoy an afternoon of music from some of our local young artists all the while taking in the view. Look forward to seeing Members and Friends on 12th December and 19th December from 3 – 6 pm.

Our new building looks amazing and our bar is now open on Saturday and Sunday afternoons at this stage.  However, we’re not quite ready to take bookings for use of the Club House. Watch this space for further updates and send any booking enquiries through to functionsfacilities@portelliotslsc.com.au  to be kept in the loop as the journey of The Club House progresses.
