The program facilitates the introduction of surf awareness, beach safety and fun for people aged 5 years and over living with a disability.
Sessions are offered each Saturday during the summer lifesaving season, generally commencing at 11.00 am for approximately 1 ½ hours.
Parents/Carers are encouraged to assist where necessary and provide their insight into the capabilities of participants.
Our lifesavers provide water cover and/or direct supervision and “buddying” for participants (if needed) to undertake a range of activities including board paddling, boogie boarding, supervised snorkelling, supervised swimming – dependent on age, capability and weather conditions. Beach safety, sprints and flags are also offered.
Carers, participants and their buddies are consistently impressed with how much improvement is achieved during the season.
